Google has recently released it's AJAX news bar. To see an example of the code in action check out the sidebar on this page. The news bar allows webmasters/newbies to easily add customized news searches to their page. The layout is also customizable to pretty much any size or orientation you can think of. There are many ways that this can be customized outside the default wizard. Good luck.
